El Mirage is this weekend! To get you in the mood, here's a 1948 home movie in color!
Via: http://hotrodsofthedrylakesera.blogspot.com/ there isn't much on that website, but I love that someone has a dedicated blog about the dry lakes hot rods
For the color photos taken in 1947 and 1948 at El Mirage, look though http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/El%20Mirage
Looks like El Mirage in 1948, the photos weren't labeled, but do we really care?
These weren't found together, just on the same webpage. I don't know if the website guy at 5window.tumbler.com knew they were from El Mirage, or what.

Above is one I hadn't posted before from Chris at http://speedseekers.blogspot.com/ notice it's a cold day coat

I think the above is Bonneville by looking at the mountain in the background, unless it's the view to the north of El Mirage
above photo from http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=5

back to 1948 and El Mirage! I'm excited as hell to find and post more color photos of 1948 El Mirage of the same car and place, based on the below
Above is the new one and is the same setting as the bottom one that I found at http://speedseekers.blogspot.com/ and is 1947 El Mirage
Above is the new one and is the same setting as the bottom one that I found at http://www.scta-bni.org/EM_1948_photos.htm
Same car, different outfits, so it's probably not at the same meet (time) the below was foundat http://www.scta-bni.org/EM_1948_photos.htm and I posted it
I posted both of the bottom photos 2 months ago, http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2010/02/on-lake-in-48-oh-wonder-and-amazement.html but just found the top photos at http://5window.tumblr.com/ The photography of Neil Rashba, Bonneville 2009

Tha above 54 mainline might look familiar: http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2009/07/in-el-mirage-return-lanes.html I've photographed it at El Mirage and Barona
This probably looks familar, it's Jeff Brock's 52 Buick http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2010/01/take-52-buick-and-lot-of-effort-make.html
I believe the above is the straight eight Packard kustom that got much deserved praise in the magazines
The above bakery truck is so cool, I photographed another here: http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2009/07/in-el-mirage-return-lanes.html

Update: (April 7th) I just found some more! http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2010/04/looks-like-el-mirage-in-1948-they.html

Would you believe the dumb bastards at Kellogg are trying to selll these images that we've already posted? http://www.kelloggautoarchives.com/gallery.html they do label each photo with owner, racer, date, location etc... but really, sell them? Sheesh.

All from different posts by Chris over at http://speedseekers.blogspot.com/ which has some NSFW stuff, so don't look at work (like that'll stop anyone!)
